Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.

    Thu 20 May 2021

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    I have just come out of my weekly meeting with the Local Authority and Head Teacher colleagues. I find the meetings useful because I can keep you all up to date with the latest issues, especially COVID related.

    We need to continue to be cautious because the Indian variant (which I will refer to as B 16.( It's actually B.1.617.2 but I think that would be too much for my brain to cope with!) is so infectious. The new cases of B16 have doubled in the last week in Bury so in school we will be keeping to all our restrictions. We don't need to panic just continue to be sensible.

    The local authority's advice on end of summer term events is to keep it simple and safe and as 'outside as possible'.

    More to follow tomorrow. Have a lovely evening.

    Mrs. Perry

    Thu 13 May 2021

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    Everyone in school would like to say 'Eid Mubarak' to all our Muslim families. We hope that you have a very happy celebration.

    We have sent a newsletter home this week that should be in your child's bag. School has since received further guidance (today) on the current COVID situation in Bury and the North West. The Indian Variant is evident in Bury and as you will know from the news, it is extremely contagious. As a result school will continue to stick to all current arrangements. Please do not panic!! We don't need to.

    We have done really well this half term and I do not see why this should not continue as long as we all:

    • Keep to entry and exit times;
    • Wear masks while on the school premises;
    • Staff will continue to wear masks in communal places;
    • Socially distance as far as possible in and outside school;
    • Keep children at home if they are unwell. Symptoms in children are wide ranging. Give them 48 hours to see what emerges;
    • If your child has a fever, a cough, fatigue or loss of sense/smell, keep them at home and have a PCR test;
    • If your child has a headache, tummy ache or generally feels unwell keep them at home;
    • Use COVID common sense.

    Let's just remain cautious. I am really hopeful that if we continue to work together to do this then we will all remain safe and well.

    Have a lovely evening.

    Mrs. Perry :)

  • Wednesday 28th April

    Wed 28 Apr 2021

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    The week is proceeding well in school. Things just seem to be slightly easier and calmer since we returned after Easter. This is helped by parents bringing the children at the allocated times. It makes such a difference, thank you.

    I am very pleased to hear the news that having just the first jab seems to reduce the chance of transmission by around 40%.  Unlike me!!! you young ones will still be waiting for your first jab so please keep adhering to the regulations. The first priority for us at St. Margaret's is to welcome the children back safely and then to keep them here.

    COVID has taken a toll on all of us and for some of our families significantly. Please be re-assured that when your children are in school they are trying their best in class and they are enjoying themselves when playing with their friends on the playground.

    As always, if you feel the need to speak to staff about a concern, we are on hand before and after school. (Rain or shine!!)

    Have a lovely evening.

    Mrs. Perry.

  • Sunday 25th April

    Sun 25 Apr 2021

    Good afternoon to everyone,

    I am really pleased to say that things seemed to go really calmly last week. I think the beautiful weather helped. Thank you for trying to keep to drop off and pick up times. That was a definite positive.

    Let's hope that this week is just as successful.

    Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    Mrs. Perry.

    Mon 19 Apr 2021

    Dear Parents and Carers

    The children have had a lovely first day back and it has been a joy to see them. Thank you so much for adhering to entry and exit drop off times. The system ran really smoothly today resulting in a great start to the new term.

    I have had been contacted by parents concerned about the number of other parents not wearing a face mask when on the school premises. Please can I encourage you to wear a mask unless there is a particular reason not to.

    Have a lovely evening. See you tomorrow.

    Mrs. Perry. :)

  • Sunday 18th April

    Sun 18 Apr 2021

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    I hope that you have had a restful Easter break. It was much needed and well deserved for all of us.

    We are all very much looking forward to welcoming the children back tomorrow. Please adhere to the usual staggered drop off times. These times have been given for a reason. That is, to keep you and the children as safe as possible. On March 8th parents were queuing at 8.25am to get children in to school, when the earliest drop off time was 8.45am.. Please do not do this tomorrow as it is dangerous.

    I know that the Government is slowly easing lockdown.  Despite this, please keep to the guidelines. When bringing the children to school keep to the time allocated. Socially distance as you drop the children off and please wear a mask when you come on to the premises. Staff will be there to welcome the children as usual.

    Please do not gather after school on the school field or on Parrenthorn grass unless the rules are adhered to,

    School would love to invite parents to some summer term events, such as the sporting events. This can only take place if safety can be guaranteed. Having said all this, I am really looking forward to seeing you and your children at school tomorrow morning. Let's have a lovely summer term.

    Lots of love.

    Mrs. Perry

  • Friday 26th March

    Fri 26 Mar 2021

    Dear Parents and Carers

    Following the sending home of several bubbles recently the school sought further advice from Bury's Public Health Team and NHS representatives.

    We talked through the school's systems of keeping the children safe and we were re-assured that school was doing everything it can to keep our children safe as far as possible.

    We have been told that the infection has been brought into the school from the community as opposed to spreading between bubbles. Therefore, despite the fact that we are all absolutely fed up of lockdown, we need to hold fast and keep going by socially distancing and not mixing with people that we should not be.

    As an additional precaution, Smarties will close until after Easter. Our hope is that Smarties will open after Easter but this will be reviewed during the Easter break.

    We have also been told that the PHE Team are going to send a letter to all parents of Bury children to make the guidelines about using a lateral flow test on children clearer. Again, if your child shows symptoms they need a PCR test. The LFTs are not reliable enough.

    If your child is isolating at home please do not bring them on the school premises if at all possible. If you do not have any other child care available, please email your child's class and we will arrange to bring your child to the main gate.

    The school is also having a deep clean using  Bury Caretaking Department's fogging machine at 7am on Monday to help re-assure you further. The children can come in at their usual staggered time.

    This has been a really difficult week in school and for all of you at home. We look forward to welcoming Willow and Lilac Classes back on Tuesday.

    Have a lovely weekend everyone.

    Mrs. Perry
