Spanish Lead - Mrs Hanson

Spanish Subject Statement

Our aim at St.Margarets is to provide our children with an opportunity to develop positive attitudes and respect for languages and cultures other than their own by encouraging the curiosity of a language and promoting resilience as they develop these skills.

We plan and deliver a coherently planned sequence of lessons, ensuring progressive coverage of the skills required by the national curriculum; we provide an introduction to the culture of Spanish-speaking countries and communities. We aim to create a love of learning and help deepen their understanding of the world. A linear curriculum has been chosen to allow an opportunity for children to gradually build on their skills. It enables children to express their ideas and thoughts in Spanish, providing opportunities for them to interact and communicate with others for practical purposes both in speech and in writing.

We are very fortunate at St.Margaret's to have the North Manchester Lingotots lead as one of our parents. Mrs Townsley runs Spanish clubs throughout the year for children across school giving our younger children the opportunity to learn some of the basics before officially starting our Spanish scheme in Year 3.
