We will continue with registration followed by phonics sessions Monday to Friday on zoom. Zoom details are the same as last week and can be found on Tapestry.
This weeks sounds are ck, e, u, r. We will learn a new sound Monday to Thursday and recap Friday.
High Frequency Words
Each Friday we will send home high frequency words to practise reading over the week.
High frequency words are mainly words that can not be sounded out and are learnt by sight recognition. They need to be learnt daily.
We will be having a phonics lesson each morning after the register on zoom. Zoom log in details will be posted on Tapestry.
Phonics sounds that we will be learning this week on our phonics zoom are g, o, c, k. The children got used to independently completing a writing challenge associated with the sound we have learnt that day. The challenge is put in the writing area and children know it has to be completed by lunch time and do this independently. Perhaps they could complete these after our phonic zooms each day.
I have also attached a homework phonics workbook to complete at the end of the week.
Phase 1 Phonics
Phase One of Letters and Sounds concentrates on developing children's speaking and listening skills and lays the foundations for the phonic work which starts in Phase 2. The emphasis during Phase 1 is to get children attuned to the sounds around them and ready to begin developing oral blending and segmenting skills. In order to engage in phase 2 phonics they need to be able to focus, listen and speak properly.
