Monday 11th May
Mon 11 May 2020Dear Parents and CarersAfter the Prime Minister's announcement last night I am sure that you have many questions. At this stage I will not be able to answer them all and I am waiting to receive more information from the Government about what this means for St. Margaret's children and families. In the short term, nothing has changed. I will provide more information as soon as I am able to do so.My 'bottom line' remains the same - the safety of everyone in our school community is paramount.Keep safe and well.Mrs. Perry :) -
Friday 8th May
Fri 08 May 2020Hi everyone
I wasn't going to email you today as it is a Bank Holiday. BUT I just wanted to say 'Have a lovely VE Day.' The news all day has been so heartening and inspiring.
Goodness knows what all those still with us think 75 years down the line.
My mum was 7 when the war started. I told you my grandad was a miner. They lived in Newcastle, which was big in coal and in shipbuilding. My grandad was highly trained in that he was the one who wound the lift down to the bottom of the pit. So he stayed at home and helped get the coal to keep industry going. My grandad decided that my mum was not going to be evacuated and that if anything happened, 'it would happen to all of them'. She did not go to school for two years (so we have a way to go to keep up on that one!) and she didn't see any friends as they all were evacuated. My mum tells me that one of her biggest problems was that there was no chocolate to buy. She likes her chocolate, does my mum. When the war was over the first chocolate she had was a Crunchie. :)
Mum remembers the zeppelins over the river Tyne. They were there to put off the German aircraft that were trying to bomb the shipyards. When I was a very little girl, my grandad used to take me to Newcastle (Wallsend actually.... it is where the Roman wall ends .... hence Walls End :) to stay for the week and I remember being utterly fascinated with the huge shipyards which even then were declining. He took me to the local park where I can particularly remember enjoying paddling in the swimming pool, apart from when I got stung by a wasp.
When we went on holiday to Wallsend, my grandad took me to Whitley Bay where I went on the Shuggy Boats and on the horses along the beach.
I really hope you have a lovely VE Day. Be strong and safe.
Mrs. P :)

Thursday 7th May
Thu 07 May 2020Hi to all Parents and Carers
I hope you have had a lovely day??
Please think about sending stories in about your relatives and join in on our VE Day Celebration. We will collate your information and when we are back in school we will display it all ... not sure about the details yet, but I think it would be a heartfelt tribute.
Aldi bags cut up can make great bunting apparently as they are red, white and blue. :) Mrs. Hadfield says so !!!
Put bunting up outside your houses and outside school if you want.
I wish you all a happy bank holiday and I hope we are together again really soon.
Mrs. P :)

Wednesday 6th May
Wed 06 May 2020Hi to all Parents and Carers
I have been in school today to get more work to take home. The end of break bell has just gone!! LOL. Dennis the caretaker is here too and he is painting Mrs. Barnes Office in some pebble colour.
It is all very strange to be here without you all, but Year 6 have been popping up to get their next book to read. It's called 'Journey to the River Sea', so I hope they all like it. It was lovely to see the children and parents. Everyone seems to be happy and enjoying being and working at home. One dad even came to school on his skateboard. Now that is impressive! (I could never master the art of skateboarding myself!).
I did my first TEAMS meeting this morning. it went as well as the chemist visit yesterday! I spent an hour and a half where I could see everyone else and hear them, but they couldn't see or hear me!! I tried everything to no avail.Hey, hey, never mind.
Year 6 parents tell me that they enjoy my daily ramblings. I am so glad and I love hearing about what you have been doing as well, so keep telling me please. I am off home in a bit. I think I might go for a run in the park so you never know I might see some of you?? Maybe I can do a run without something going not quite right.
Lots of love

Tuesday 5th May
Tue 05 May 2020Good evening to Parents and Carers
Mrs. Barnes has prodded me and told me that I have not been in touch today! It's true but don't worry I hadn't forgotten!!
My reason for being in touch late is simple.... I have been to the chemist! Miss Cloran will back me up on this, as I was talking to her in the half an hour queue! :( (I don't do queuing well). She is doing well btw little Emilia is utterly beautiful!
I have spent ten days trying to organise a prescription. (Don't worry I' m ok!)
I emailed the surgery three times following their instructions. They then texted me to say I needed to email the surgery as they realised they needed to do something.??? I have been in touch with the Docs three times as well as all this on the contact button. They insisted I needed to go to the chemist. I went to the chemist today and stood in a queue for 30 minutes. They then said that I needed to go back to the Docs.... I stood in the doorway. One person is allowed in at a time. While I was in this little bubble a delightful little old man came into my bubble and I had to gently persuade him that I needed to be in my bubble on my own. We eventually came to an agreement.
FINALLY I got what I needed.
It was a bit of a pest, but ... everyone is trying their best and I know you are all too.
Our NHS is amazing!!
Lots of love
After a stressful day

Monday 4th May
Mon 04 May 2020Good afternoon Parents and Carers :)
What another lovely day! I have been reading on Tapestry about the Reception children and how hard they have been working. It is lovely to see the pictures they have added. Some of them have have even learned to ride their bike without stabilisers. They look really proud. I am also aware of how hard you are working and you should be proud of yourselves too!
As parents you will be aware that the Government is likely to make an announcement about schools re-opening later this week. This will not be 'a return to normal'. Whatever you hear/read about in the media, the true fact is that we don't know what the Government directive will be and even when we do, schools will need time to prepare. We live in interesting times to say the least
I am working closely with my Head Teacher colleagues and the Local Authority to ensure that whatever happens, school will be a safe environment (based on the science) for everyone in it.
Keep safe
Mrs. Perry :)

Friday 1st May
Fri 01 May 2020Hi to all Parents and Carers
I have had a lovely day!!
I spent some time Zooming with Year 6. It was my first Zoom ever (yes I admit it).
It's amazing what you learn: what time the Y6 species emerge from slumber; what the species wear while in slumber; once the species has emerged what they do; the excuses they come up with when they miss an early Zoom and request a place in the last one at 11am!!... hide under tables in their dens; bake; build walls (impressive); play with their new puppy; annoy their sisters and brothers!! (How many times do I have to tell you.... that's what brothers and sisters are for.)
It was utterly lovely to see them all and hear about what they are doing and what they need from school. (Less work from school - well that's not happening ;)
Seriously I was so proud of my children and their teachers. I know that teachers are contacting children and making sure you are all ok.
We miss you all.
Have a great weekend. Get in touch if you need to.
Lots of love
Mrs. P xx

Thursday 30th April
Thu 30 Apr 2020Hi Parents and carers
I am in school at the moment dropping off one lot of work and getting some more. You will be glad to know that your school reports are on my list soon!! Yes I can remember all about you :)
I have asked your teachers to call you and ask how you are. So if you get a No ID Caller please try to pick up as it might be your teacher. They will just want to know how you are and if you have any worries.
The fish are missing you and so am I
Lots of love
Mrs. Perry :)

Wednesday 29 April
Wed 29 Apr 2020Good evening to all Parents and Carers
I hope you have all had a good day!! It's been raining where I am so I have worked all day. Just been out for a lovely walk along the side of the brook round the back of the house. Again, I have had lots of messages about what you are up to. I am also aware that for some life is tough on some days. Please let us know if we can help or even chat over the phone. Some days I have to not think about how this will go on for, because I miss school, my routine and I miss you. So keep in touch and keep safe.
Mrs. Perry :)

Tuesday 28th April
Tue 28 Apr 2020Good afternoon to all parents and carers :)
I hope you are all well today?
It's a bit cooler at my house. Charlotte thought I didn't notice her sneaking the heating on!!!
I went down to school this morning to get more work to do. I think your rainbows are lovely. School feels very strange without you all. The fish tank looks good. I think the little fish miss your little faces pressed up against the tank.
Dennis the caretaker has cleaned all your class rooms and they smell lovely and clean !!
I really hope that you are all keeping well and that we see each other very soon.
Mrs. Perry xx
