Our Eco Council 2024/25

25/09/24- Our First Meeting

This morning, our Eco Council met for the first time to complete our environmental review. This environmental review acts as a baseline audit of the school's current practices relating to 'green' issues. The questionnaire completed focused on 10 main areas, and included:

  • Energy
  • Litter
  • Marine Issues
  • Biodiversity
  • Global Citizenship
  • Healthy Living
  • The School Grounds
  • Transport
  • Water
  • Waste

We were very pleased to find that in some areas we scored highly; however, the review highlighted some areas we needed to prioritise to work on further. We shared some of the findings of our review with the school on 26/09/24 during collective worship. A summary of the report findings can be found below. Following this, we are planning on meeting with Mrs Barnes (School Business Manager) and Mr Kemp (School Site Manager) next week to discuss some 'quick fixes', where we can share our progress with school in a further class assembly this half term.

05/11/24- Our Second Meeting

Today we reflected on our Environmental Review and considered some areas to focus on for our Action Plan.  Full details to follow

1/12/24- Our Third Meeting (Action Planning)

Using the environmental review, we identified areas that we felt would have an impact this academic year. We chose 3 main areas:

  • Biodiversity
  • Litter
  • School Grounds

We have set up a number of meetings with key people for spring term, including Miss Whiteside, Mrs Barnes and our new caretaker to look at actions that can be completed in the first half term of the new year.

Our action plan can be found below.
