Dear Parents/Carers

Covid – 19

We have 4 Classes isolating at the moment, as we had to send Year 3 children home today. This nasty virus spreads rapidly and affects all our families when it takes hold. It is now clear that although children do not become very ill with C-19 they spread the disease in the same way an adult does. This is why children MUST NOT come to school if they are unwell. Our experience in school tells us that the main symptoms children may experience is a poorly tummy cold symptoms or/and headache, and may only last 24/48 hours.

Christmas - PTA

As we all know this has been a very difficult year for us all, and we can’t do the normal Christmas activities children would generally do, because of the current restrictions in place. We have been in discussions with our PTA to see how we can make it special for our children, please see the letter overleaf from the PTA.

Chocolate Raffle.

The staff will all be donating a chocolate hamper. Each child will be given a free raffle ticket , with the opportunity of winning this prize. The ticket will be drawn on Friday 11^th December- Christmas Jumper Day.

Community Vineyard Manchester

School will be working with a local charity (cvm) this Christmas time. The charity provides clothes, toys and other items, mainly in the 0-5 age bracket, but I have been told that other age ranges can be catered for if there is a need. If your family needs support with clothes and toys this Christmas, please let school know, or contact the Charity directly on 07985 227 899 or email kidstuff@cvmchurch.co.uk.

Christmas jumper day.

We will be taking in part in Christmas jumper day on Friday 11 December to raise funds for save the children. Children can wear a Christmas jumper if they like for a donation to this very worthy charity.

St. Margaret’s PTA Update

Christmas is coming!

This is normally one of the busiest of the year for the PTA but with current restrictions in place many of our much loved Christmas activities are on hold. As a result, we are struggling to raise the usual funds to support school, therefore we have had to think differently about what is possible this year.

Non- Uniform days:

Friday 27^th November

Friday 4^th December

Children can come to school in non-uniform on these dates. We are asking families to donate a minimum of £1 per child or family each Friday.

Raffle

Raffle tickets will be on sale the week beginning Monday 7th December. Tickets will cost £1 for a strip of 5 tickets.  The raffle will be drawn on Christmas jumper day Friday 11^th December.

Christmas Cards

Please remember the last date for ordering your child’s Christmas cards online is 25^th November.

Donations

If anyone would like to make a raffle donation please contact the school  PTA chair Rebecca Wilcoxson (07790 237933) to arrange collection or drop off by Friday 4^th December.

Donations must be new items only this year. Items to consider:

• New toys
• New Books, colouring books, felt tips/crayons
• Christmas activity fun packs / selection boxes

Dear Parents and Carers

I regret to inform you that a Year 6 child has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, the Year 6 children must isolate at home for the next two weeks. Their return to school will be Monday 7th December. During this two weeks, the children should not go out even if they do not have symptoms. Parents, please DO NOT send your child to school if they are unwell. This nasty virus spreads rapidly and affects all our families when it takes hold. We are all now familiar with the main COVID symptoms: a new persistent dry cough; a loss of taste or smell; a high temperature. Our experience in school tells us that children may also experience a poorly tummy and/or a headache.

Staff will be self isolating and will be providing home learning for your child.​ The children should attend the morning Zoom register. The work for the day will be explained in this meeting. The Year 6 work can be printed off by the office if you are having difficulty accessing it on a computer.

Good evening everyone,

Except it isn't evening ! It's quarter to five and where I am it's dark!! I am sooooo not a winter person!. The staff are all in school tomorrow planning for the next half term. They are so keen to welcome all the children back.

The country has gone back into lockdown as you will know. If your child needs to work at home then work will be posted on the class page. Please let us know if you have a problem accessing this. I think that home learning will be inevitable at some point for all classes.

I hope that you have all had a restful half term holiday.

Dear Parents and Carers

I thought I would remind you that the Health and Safety representative will be in school tomorrow morning early doors. She will observe the children coming in to school  and have a look round the shared areas in school. She will not be in classrooms.

I asked a Bury H and S rep to visit school today to give us any advice and make sure that the systems we have put in place are robust enough. There were a small number of tips but otherwise he was impressed with what we are doing. I go into tomorrow's inspection with confidence !!

Soooo … remember your mask and remember to be 2m apart. I think we can be really proud of what we have achieved!

Good evening all Parents and Carers,

I hope you have had a good start to the week. I think everyone in school is really tired and looking forward to the half term, I certainly include myself in that. I know that you all must be nervous about what is going to happen in Greater Manchester as Andy Burnham tries to gain a good financial deal for all of us. 

I was in a meeting today with Heads and the Local Authority and they describe it as a 'carousel of in school and out' and of  'ups and down' on an escalator. As a person who likes to generally know what I am facing on a day to day basis, I find this hard. I am trying to think of it this way - if anything happens in the day that you expected..... smile!

We need to be prepared for bubbles to be sent home and for children to be home learning. This will only be done on the advice of the local health team (who are excellent by the way). In light of this, please can you let school / your child's class teacher via the class page know if there are issues accessing home learning. We have limited access to new IT equipment via a Government scheme and I need the information to prioritise the allocation of the equipment as obviously not all children are eligible. School will explore every means of getting class work to you and this is why the information is required.

On Thursday the school will have an Her Majesty's Inspector of Health and Safety on the premises. You will see her with me in the morning as the children enter school. This is a random visit to look at our Risk Assessment and to see how it is working in practical terms. I welcome the chance to show her everything that we have put in place.

Good afternoon Parents and Carers,

Thank you for all your support this week as all the children returned to school. We have had a good week and the children have been a pleasure to be with. Some staff remain poorly and our best wishes for a speedy recovery go to them. These are, unfortunately, the sign of the times we live in.
