Usually, around this time of year, I ask the children to pick a piece of paper out of a hat. Each piece of paper has the name of an animal that they may not have heard before. The children's task is to research the animal at find out:
What type of animal is it (mammal/bird etc.);
What country/countries it lives in;
What environment it prefers (desert/rainforest etc);
What it eats;
An interesting fact;
Plus anything else they discover that they like.
I always tell them to use '(animal name) facts for kids' when they are searching as sometimes they will find in-depth scientific/environmental studies using words they (or I) don't understand.
If you open the powerpoint and click spin to start, then click it again to stop it should (hopefully) give you an animal name. If you get a name that you know, have another go.
I hope this works!
Magnets and forces.
This half term we were due to study the above. If you would like to try it you can attempt the experiment from the link below.
